Beard was named ‘Most Valuable Player’ for the football team. He was a two-time conference all-star for the LVC as a linebacker and was a four-year letterwinner. After graduation, Beard stayed at The Valley as a coach. He was LVC’s athletic director from 2007-2023. Beard’s contributions to LVC athletics during his time as director includes but is not limited to the introduction of men’s and women’s lacrosse, women’s golf, women’s ice hockey, and the return to NCAA Division III status of the men’s ice hockey team. He also was part of the football teams coaching staff for 15 seasons and was the director of the Arnold Sports Center.
