Rich Basta ’69 was a standout wrestler and football player at the Valley from 1965 to 1968. On the mat, Basta went undefeated as a sophomore and earned the #1 seed in the MAC Championship Tournament with a 9-0-1 record. He also set the program’s fastest pin record at 57 seconds. Despite his wrestling career being cut short by injury, Basta was a four-year member of the football team on defense, and was twice named to the weekly all-ECAC team in 1968.
After graduating from LVC in 1969, Basta earned his MBA?from the Rutgers School of Business. He was the executive director of Associated Builders and Contractors, a major construction trade association, for over 20 years and he recently retired from a career as an officer with Morgan Stanley. Basta is also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
