Sorrentino was the symbol of LVC athletics for nearly 60 years. As a three-sport athlete he was first-team All-State, Second-Team Little All-America, Blue-Grey All-Star Game MVP in football; led the Dutchmen to a MAC Championship and NCAA Sweet 16 in basketball in 1953; and was a standout player on the baseball diamond, eventually signing with the Baltimore Orioles. Beyond his playing years, Sorrentino returned to LVC as a football, basketball, baseball, and golf coach. He served as LVC’s athletic director from 1981-2000, presiding over an era of expansion that included the 1994 men’s basketball national title and the rise of the field hockey program to national prominence.
