Women’s Track and Field Records Four Regional Qualifiers at York

YORK, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's outdoor track and field team recorded four AARTFC Championship qualifiers on Wednesday at the York Twilight Meet hosted by York College of Pennsylvania.
 
MAC AND AARTFC QUALIFIERS PLUS OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES
Alyssa Peiffer had a time of 27.15 seconds in the 200 meters to finish seventh. Peiffer was also sixth in the 400 hurdles with a MAC qualifying time of 1:10.28. Darrian Berkheimer finished second in the 400 meters with a MAC qualifying and career best time of 1:00.06. Lauren Bunke won the 800 meters in 2:18.34. Her time is a career best as well as a qualifier for the MAC and AARTFC Championships. Coyla Bartholomew was fourth in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:57.84 while Sierra Kapcsos ran 5:06.28 to finish seventh. Both runners qualified for the MAC Championships with their times. The 4x400 meter relay team of Bunke, Bartholomew, Kapcsos, and Autumn Garges was fourth with a time of 4:18.19.
 
Ashley Bartels won the hammer with a toss of 45.16 meters (148'2") on her sixth throw. Lauren Assante was fourth with a career best mark of 40.80 meters (133'10") on her second attempt. Mackenze Spence was second in the discus with a career best and AARTFC qualifying throw of 38.84 meters (127'5") on her third toss. Alyssa Betz was fourth with a career best throw of 36.36 meters (119'3") on her third attempt. Caroline Reed was sixth in the shot put with a career best mark of 10.91 meters (35'9.5") on her first toss. Assante was seventh with a throw of 10.87 meters (35'8") on her first attempt.
 
Melena Koutch qualified for the AARTFC Championships in the high jump with a career best height of 1.60 meters (5'3") to finish fourth. Carolina Wegman was sixth at a career best 1.50 meters (4'11"). Emily Oriel had a AARTFC qualifying height in the pole vault while Sidney Wike qualified for the MAC Championships. Oriel finished second with a career best height of 3.35 meters (10'11.75"). Rachel Snavely was fourth at her career best height of 3.20 meters (10'6") and Wike was eighth with a height of 2.75 meters (9'0.25").
 
INTO THE RECORD BOOKS
Berkheimer is now ninth on the program top 10 list in the 400 meters with her time of 1:00.06. Bunke is third in the 800 meters after running 2:18.34. Koutch moved into the record books in the high jump at a tie for fourth with her height of 1.60 meters. Spence moved up from third to second in the discus with her career best mark of 38.84 meters. Betz also had a career best toss of 36.36 meters which is fifth. Bartels moved closer to the school record in the hammer and is still second after throwing a career best 45.16 meters. Assante moved from ninth to seventh with her career best throw of 40.80 meters. Oriel is now second in the program record books with a pole vault height of 3.35 meters.
 
UP NEXT
LVC will head to Messiah next weekend for the Messiah Multi and Invitational starting on Thursday April 13 and finishing on Saturday April 15. A few runners will also compete at Bucknell next weekend.
