SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Ashley Bartels became the latest Lebanon Valley women's track and field student-athlete to break a school record on Saturday as she finished second in the weight throw at the Susquehanna Tune-Up with a career best toss.
 
TOP PERFORMANCES AND MAC QUALIFIERS
Tori Hunyara qualified for the 60 meters final with a time of 8.29 seconds. She then ran a season-best 8.28 seconds to finish seventh. Darrian Berkheimer won the 200 meters in 26.94 seconds. It is her second event win of the year. Alyssa Peiffer had a time of 1:03.54 in the 400 meters to finish sixth. Aleah Hoffman had a fast time of 21:39.84 in the 5000 meters to finish fourth. The women had a great day on relays finishing third in the 4x200 and winning the distance medley relay. The 4x200 team of Berkheimer, Peiffer, Emily Oriel and Hunyara had a time of 1:50.58 while the distance medley crew of Lauren Bunke, Autumn Garges, Sierra Kapcsos, and Coyla Batholomew ran 13:11.00. The 4x200 relay team qualified for the AARTFC Championships with their time. Bunke ran at Penn State on Friday afternoon and finished seventh in the mile with a tile of 5:13.29. Bartholomew qualified for the MAC Championships in the 800 meters running a time of 2:32.01.
 
Carolina Wegman was fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.47 meters (4'9.75"). Oriel was third in the pole vault with a height of 3.20 meters (10'6") while Rachel Snavely was fourth at 3.05 meters (10'0"). Bartels threw 15.85 meters (52'0") on her fourth attempt in the weight throw while Lauren Assante was fifth with a mark of 13.71 meters (44'11.75").
 
INTO THE RECORD BOOKS
Hunyara moved up from 10th to ninth in the school's 60 meters top 10 list with her career best time. Bartel broke the weight throw record that was held by McKenna Loughney at 15.57 meters (51'1") which she threw last year. Bartels was previously third on the list with a best toss of 14.92 meters (48'11.5") before unleashing her career best today.
 
UP NEXT
The Dutchmen will compete at the MAC Championships next weekend. The Championships will start on Friday at Alvernia's PLEX and will end on Saturday.
