Women’s Indoor Track and Field Record Four Top Three Finishes At Alvernia

READING, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's indoor track and field team had another great meet with four top three finishes on Saturday at the PLEX Shootout hosted by Alvernia University in Reading.
 
TOP PERFORMANCES AND MAC QUALIFIERS
Lauren Bunke won the 800 meters in a career best time of 2:21.66. She outkicked Samantha Hoffmann of University of Scranton to win by under a second. Bunke qualified for the MAC Championships and AARTFC Championships with her time. Autumn Garges was eighth in the event with a time of 2:27.56. Sierra Kapcsos qualified for the MAC Championships in the 800 with a time of 2:32.55. Tori Hunyara qualified for the 60 meters finals with a time of season best time of 8.36 seconds in prelims. She then finished eighth in the final with a time of 8.38 seconds. Darrian Berkheimer finished fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 27.11 seconds. Alyssa Peiffer was seventh in the 400 meters with a time of 1:04.48. The 4x200 meter relay team of Berkheimer, Hunyara, Emily Oriel, and Peiffer was fourth with a season best time of 1:50.88.

Melena Koutch qualified for the AARTFC Championships in the high jump with a height of 1.60 meters (5'3") to finish second. The Dutchmen placed three in the top 10 of the pole vault led by Emily Oriel with a vault of 3.15 meters (10'4") to finish second. Rachel Snavely was third with a height of 3.00 meters (9'10") and Sidney Wike was seventh also vaulting a season best 3.00 meters (9'10"). Caroline Reed was seventh in the shot put with a toss of 10.84 meters (35'6.75") on her second attempt. Ashley Bartels had another great day in the weight throw with a mark of 14.60 meters (47'11") on her first throw to finish third. Mackenze Spence was fifth with a career best toss of 13.49 meters (44'3.25") on her fifth attempt.
 
 
INTO THE RECORD BOOKS
Hunyara is now 10th on the program top 10 list in the 60 meters with her time of 8.36 seconds. Bunke moved up in the 800 meters from fourth to second beating her previous career best by two seconds. Koutch equaled her career best height in the high jump which is third in program history. Reed entered the record books in the shot put with her career best toss which ties her with Bartels for ninth. Spence moved up from eighth to seventh in the weight throw record books.
 
UP NEXT
LVC will close out the regular season next Saturday at the Susquehanna Tune-Up hosted by Susquehanna University.
