KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Lebanon Valley men's soccer team had four student-athletes named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region IV Team with the release of the postseason awards this week by the coaches organization.
Logan Hicks,
Lucas Strange, and
Nathan Prex were First Team honorees while
Aaron Weitzel earned a spot on the Third Team.
Hicks, the MAC Freedom Rookie of the Year, earned his spot on the First Team as a defender after anchoring a defense that is ranked 25th in the nation in goal differential and sixth in the region with a .421 shutout percentage. The Dutchmen were also ranked sixth in the region with a 1.00 goals against average. Hicks started all 19 games and had three points on a goal and an assist.
Strange earns his second career All-Region honor after finishing second on the team with 19 points on six goals and seven assists in just 13 games as a midfielder. Strange led the team with three game-winning goals and was ranked tied for sixth in the region in assists. The midfielder had four multi-point games this season.
Prex, the MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Year, had a year for the record books as he is ranked seventh in the nation with a program record 20 goals in 19 games and ninth in the nation with 45 total points. The sophomore forward had five multi-goal games this season including four goals in the conference opener at Misericordia. Prex had one game-winning goal and added five assists.
Weitzel earns his second career All-Region honor at forward after another strong season where he recorded 12 points on five goals and two assists. The junior scored the game-winning goal at Penn State Harrisburg and against FDU-Florham. Weitzel was a force off the bench as he started just seven of the 19 games he played in.
The four honorees on the All-Region Team are a program record for the Dutchmen. Strange and Weitzel were also named All-Region honorees in 2021.
