CARLISLE, Pa. – Charlie Kramer scored a goal for the Lebanon Valley College men's soccer team, as the program dropped a hard-fought 6-1 contest to No. 9 Dickinson College on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Miller Memorial Field.
The Red Devils (9-0-4, 3-0-1 Centennial) took the first shot on goal 36 seconds into the game, and the Dutchmen (6-2-4, 0-0-1 MAC Freedom) came through with a team save when a defender kept the ball from going into the net by kicking it away. Dickinson then opened the scoring 3:47 into the contest, taking a 1-0 lead on a goal by Timi Omoniwa. The Red Devils put another shot on goal at the 8:20 mark, which resulted in goalkeeper
Ryan Simonette delivering a save for LVC. Dickinson followed this by going ahead 2-0 on a goal by Saul Iwowo at the 10:49 mark.
Lebanon Valley's defense continued to battle as the first half progressed, preventing the opposition from putting a shot on target for nearly 31 minutes. During this stretch, the Flying Dutchmen blocked shot attempts by the Red Devils at the 16:08 and 28:53 marks. LVC also worked to generate offensive opportunities, as
Nathan Prex sent a shot to the right of the net at the 40:22 mark. Dickinson then scored 41:48 into the game, taking a 3-0 advantage on a goal by Parker Kiey. The Dutchmen followed this by creating more chances on the offensive end, as
Gavin Rapp put a shot on goal that was saved at the 43:04 mark, and
Ollie Lynch had a try go above the net 14 seconds later.
Lebanon Valley got on the board 4:15 into the second half, narrowing the score to 3-1. A defender for the Red Devils deflected the ball to the right side of the penalty box, and Kramer sent a shot into the lower-left corner of the net for a goal. Dickinson followed this with a goal by Iwowo 41 seconds later, making it a 4-1 contest. The teams then went back and forth defensively, as neither side put a shot on goal for over 15 minutes. The Red Devils later added a tally with a goal by Ethan Jared, going up 5-1 at the 64:59 mark.
Dickinson took another shot on goal at the 68:42 mark, and Simonette made a save for Lebanon Valley. The Red Devils then tacked on a point with a goal by Rowan Jensen 72:53 into the game, advancing the score to 6-1. The Dutchmen also kept battling offensively as the second stanza went on, as Rapp took a shot on target that was saved at the 76:21 mark. Ultimately, the score was maintained through the end of the game, as the defenses of both programs kept each other from taking a shot during the remaining minutes.
