How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Nick O'Shea delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to send Lebanon Valley past Eastern 10-9 on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action. The Dutchmen improved to 17-13, while the Eagles dropped to 10-15.

After Eastern tied the game with three runs in the top of the ninth, LVC definitely didn't want to go into extra innings and use more pitchers with a big weekend series against Widener looming. Fortunately for the Dutchmen, there were no extra innings this afternoon. Colin Albright began the bottom of the ninth by drawing a walk, followed by a single by Chase Weik. After Michael Puglisi reached on a fielder's choice sacrifice bunt, O'Shea pinch hit and drilled the first pitch he saw to right center, scoring Albright and giving LVC the thrilling 10-9 win.

Eastern got on the board first when DiGiacomo hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the third for the 1-0 lead, but that quickly evaporated when Joshua Herring ripped an RBI-single in the third, followed by an RBI-groundout from Marshall Kiessling to put the Dutchmen up 2-1. After starting pitcher Corey Sell held the Eagles scoreless in the top of the fourth, LVC struck for four more runs in the bottom of the frame to go up 6-1. Philip Berry scored on a balk, followed by Puglisi's sacrifice fly. Later, Zac Edwards scored on a wild pitch and Chris DeClerico singled home Herring.

The pesky Eagles wouldn't go away, however, as they added three runs in the top of the fifth to come to within two at 6-4. In the bottom of the sixth, LVC got one back when DeClerico's single through the left side plated Edwards, giving the Dutchmen some breathing room at 7-4. Eastern scored twice in the top of the seventh and knocked Sell out of the game, but two runs in the bottom of the seventh for the Dutchmen put them up by three at 9-6.

In the top of the ninth, the Eagles were able to tie the game off a two-RBI double from Kelley and an RBI-single from Boykin.

Inside the Numbers
 - DeClerico, Joshua Marcelli, and Weik notched two hits apiece.
 - Edwards went 1-for-2 and was hit by a pitch twice. He also scored three runs.
 - The Eagles were led offensively by DiGiacomo, who went 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.
 - LVC outhit Eastern 15-11.
 - The Eagles used nine pitchers in the losing effort.
 - Sell went 6.2 innings and allowed five earned runs to go along with five strikeouts.
 - Michael Houseal pitched in relief and earned the win.

Who's Next?
A pivotal MAC Commonwealth series with Widener awaits LVC this weekend. The Dutchmen will travel to Chester to take on the Pride on Friday before the two teams meet up in Annville for a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
