Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Baseball
Lebanon Valley 8, Marywood 6
Marywood 3, Lebanon Valley 2 (9 inn.)

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - Lebanon Valley picked up its first win of the young season on Monday, splitting a doubleheader with Marywood in Florida.

The Dutchmen (1-3) took the opener 8-6 in a comeback win, but fell 3-2 in a nine-inning pitcher's duel to cap the twinbill.

Lee Webber earned the game one win with five innings of long relief, striking out four, with Mike Specht picking up the save. Freshman Casey Wall made his first start for LVC a good one with eight strikeouts, but ended up with no decision after seven strong innings in game two.

Phill Dohner drove in four runs in game one in a 3-for-3 effort, while Devin Dellinger and Corey Cinicola provided the RBIs in game two.

Game One

Lebanon Valley took a quick lead in game one thanks to a two-run first, with Zac Edwards and Zach Smith scoring on Dohner's base hit and Dellinger's sacrifice fly, but Marywood touched starter Jimmie Miller for four in the bottom half to snag a quick 4-2 lead.

LVC exploded for five in the second, however, highlighted by a bases-clearing double from Dohner and RBIs by Edwards and Smith, and Dohner came around to score an insurance run in the fourth on Brett Fundell's single.

Marywood threatened with two runs in the sixth after Mike Diskin's lead-off walk and Rebar's triple led to Dan Hull's sac fly, but Webber worked out of the inning and Specht was effective in the seventh to earn the save.

Game Two

Wall had an outstanding start to his career, holding Marywood to three baserunners and no runs through four before the Pacers struck for an unearned run in the fifth off Diskin's single to plate Erik Pulkkinen and take a 1-0 lead.

The Dutchmen answered in the sixth with Dellinger's single putting Puglisi across, but Marywood took the lead back in the seventh with another unearned run, with Pulkkinen scoring on May's single.

Jordan Higgins' double set up the game-tying run in the bottom of the seventh, with pinch-runner Kory Johnson scoring on Cinicola's single to force extras, but a sacrifice fly in the ninth by Diskin was the difference-maker. LVC had the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth but couldn't convert, hitting into a game-ending double play.

Freshmen Mike Puglisi and Greg Orlando recorded their first career hits in the game. Joe DiLoreto earned the win for Marywood, with Robert Flynn getting the save. Wall struck out eight and allowed seven hits and no earned runs through seven, with Mike Specht taking the loss in two innings of relief.

LVC will continue their spring break trip Tuesday, playing Immaculata for two starting at noon.
