Arcadia Takes Series In 11-6 Slugfest

Box Score Baseball
Arcadia 11, Lebanon Valley 6

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Arcadia and Lebanon Valley each pounded out 15 hits, but it was Arcadia that made the most of their chances to win, 11-6, and capture the weekend series.

The Dutchmen (11-22) stranded eight runners in scoring position, while the Knights (20-13-1) locked up a Commonwealth Conference tournament berth with the win after splitting yesterday's doubleheader.

Mike Specht went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one of four Dutchmen with three hits along with Tim Filer, Dylan Tamecki, and Andrew DeCew. David Jacobs and Justin Simpson each pounded four hits for Arcadia, and Elliott Freeman smacked a two-run homer in the ninth,

Phill Dohner (0-3) started but was replaced by Corey Cinicola in the third; Cinicola and Mike Specht split the remainder of the game. Marc Gottfriend (2-3) picked up the win for Arcadia, striking out five in five innings of work, and Johan van Bemmelan threw three innings of one-run ball to pick up the save.

Arcadia jumped out to a 5-0 lead through three, manufacturing runs in each of the first three innings, but LVC responded with a pair in the third thanks to Tamecki's double and Jordan Higgins' sacrifice fly.

Simpson popped a two-run double in the fifth that Specht answered in the bottom of the frame, and Brett Fundell drew a bases-loaded walk in the sixth to tighten the game at 7-5. That would be as close as the Dutchmen would come, however, as Taylor Schon doubled in two runs in the seventh, and Freeman's homer in the ninth sealed it.

The Dutchmen will host Frostburg State on Tuesday.
