Lebanon Valley 0, Penn State Behrend 11
FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Lebanon Valley was held to four hits and managed to move just one runner beyond second base in an 11-0 loss to Penn State Behrend Thursday.
John Hildebrand swung for his second consecutive multiple-hit game with singles in the second and seventh innings, and
Tim Filer and
Phill Dohner picked up the teams other two hits.
The Dutchmen (2-6) made a threat in the top of the second when
Lee Webber reached on a fielder's choice and Hildebrand singled to left, giving the team its only opportunity with multiple baserunners. After failing to plate either runner, the team saw Behrend score three times in the bottom frame and twice in the next inning to take a 5-0 lead.
The next push from LVC came in the top of the eighth. Down 11-0, Dohner hit a one-out double to the right-center gap and advanced on a groundout by Filer, but the inning ended on a strikeout.
Dohner has hit in all but one game this spring and leads the team with a .355 batting average.
In his second start of the season,
Jason Barthold pitched three innings, allowing five runs – just two earned – on eight hits and a walk. He struck out one and threw one wild pitch.
The Dutchmen close out their spring slate today at 1:30 p.m. against Geneva. Live stats are available at:
