Widener 18, Lebanon Valley 3
CHESTER, Pa. – Lebanon Valley opened conference play with a 18-3 loss at Widener Friday in the opener of a three-game weekend series.
The Dutchmen (3-8) were unable to score until the top of the sixth, when
Corey Cinicola scored on a bases loaded fielder's choice by
Dylan Tamecki.
Phill Dohner was thrown out on the play, and
Jordan Higgins hit into a fielder's choice in the next at-bat to end the inning.
Widener (4-6) built a daunting lead in the second inning, when the team amassed six runs on five hits, two errors, and a hit by pitch. They led 9-0 before LVC got on the board and added five runs in the bottom frame of the sixth and another run in the seventh to further enforce their lead.
Dohner tripled to left in the eighth to score Brousseau from second.
Mike Specht knocked him in in the next at bat with a single up the middle that forced the Pride to go to their bullpen for the second time in the game. The score was 15-3. Widener tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the inning.
Derek Brousseau, Dohner, and Specht each hit successfully in the top three spots of the lineup. Dohner and Specht were the only players to have two hits in the game. Dohner's hit marked the team's first triple of the season. Specht doubled in the first, though he was the team's lone baserunner in the inning.
John Hildebrand also had a hit in the loss.
Brousseau made the start on the mound before slotting over to designated hitter in the fourth. He allowed eight runs – six earned – on eight hits and a walk without a strikeout. He struggled a bit with two hit batters and a wild pitch and allowed three doubles.

These teams will play two Sunday at noon in Annville, with the doubleheader pushed back from its scheduled Saturday date due to inclement weather.
