Game 1 - Lebanon Valley 5, Widener 2

CHESTER, Pa. - A seventh inning run by Kyle Wenger forced an extra inning and allowed Lebanon Valley to beat Widener, 5-2, in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.

The Pride (12-6, 4-2 CC) struck first with a run in the bottom of the third. The Dutchmen (9-9, 3-3) rallied the bases loaded in the fourth but managed just one run to tie the game at 1-1. Derek Brousseau smashed a two-out, bases-loaded single through the right side to score Jordan Witmer. Jacob Rhody was thrown out by the right fielder trying to score from second.

The Pride reclaimed the lead in the fourth when Michael Riverso drove in a run on a fielder's choice. The 2-1 lead lasted in the seventh inning, when starter Joe Sessa was pulled for reliever Brandon McCloskey. Sessa departed with the bases loaded and just one out on the board. He was charged with the run scored by Wenger, which came by way of an RBI fielder's choice by Ryan Schwartz.

With two outs in the eighth, LVC rallied. Rhody doubled to right center and scored on a double by Brousseau. Wenger walked to put runners on first and second for John Hildebrand, who smashed his first double of the season and drove in both runners to give the team its 5-2 lead.

Brousseau (2-0) pitched the entire way for the win, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks. He struck out four in his first complete game of the season. He aided his own cause by posting two hits with two RBIs and a run scored.

McCloskey (1-2) earned the loss for the Pride after pitching just 1.2 innings.

Game 2 - Lebanon Valley 1, Widener 14

The second game grew dismal early on, as the Pride piled eight runs onto the scoreboard over the first two innings.

Mike Specht (0-1) allowed the first seven runs - six earned - in 1.2 innings of work for his first loss. Specht struggled with control, allowing three hits and four walks before being replaced by Jason Barthold in the second.

The Dutchmen scored their only run in the top of the third. Down 8-0, Phillip Dohner laced a two-out double down the left field line. Dohner advanced on a wild pitch and scored when Schwartz reached on an error.

Brent McDowell was called upon to pitch the fourth for LVC but was hit for six runs. He allowed four hits and four walks and was pulled after two outs.

Zack Rex and Matthew McMonagle split the final two innings of the game and escaped unharmed.

Starter Rick Kazigian (3-1) earned the win for Widener. He allowed one unearned run on five hits, while striking out six. He did not allow a walk.
