Baseball Completes Sweep of Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley baseball finished a three-game series with Arcadia Monday afternoon, picking up two wins. The Dutchmen claimed a 14-4 win in the opening contest and followed with a 9-8 victory in the nightcap.

GAME ONE
Racking up 14 hits against the Knights, Derek Brousseau led the team with three hits. Aaron Mills posted a team-high four RBI, while Ryan Schwartz and Jacob Rhody each batted in three runs.

Brousseau opened the game with a double and Schwartz drew a walk. Both runners advanced on a passed ball, and went on to score off a double to right by Mills. The final run of the inning came when Mills crossed home plate on a wild pitch.

Arcadia broke up the shutout in the third inning with one run scoring. The Knights claimed the lead in the fifth inning, recording three runs for a 4-3 advantage. A ground out and single scored a run each, while the final run came off an error.

Lebanon Valley regained the lead the following inning, scoring six runs. A single by Rhody scored two and an error by the Knights sent two more home in the inning.

Five more runs in the seventh inning secured the win for the Dutchmen. Singles from Kyle Wenger and Brousseau tallied a run each, while a double by Schwartz recorded the third run of the inning. A sacrifice fly and single by Rhody finished out the scoring.

Nate Blough picked up his fourth win of the season for LVC. Pitching six innings, he allowed four runs on eight hits and struck out three. Peter Moro finished the game, retiring two of the three batters he faced.

GAME TWO
Four players posted two hits each to lead Lebanon Valley in the series sweep. Andrew Germann paced the team's offense with three RBI, while Mills and Jordan Witmer registered two RBI each.

The Dutchmen again scored three runs in the first inning for the early lead. Brousseau hit a walkoff double and scored off a single to right by Mills. Witmer's first triple of the season scored the final two runs of the inning.

Arcadia notched one run in the second, third, and fourth innings to tie the game. The Knights then took the lead in the fifth with four runs. Singles by Kyle Jackson and Mike McElahatton scored two runs each in the inning.

Lebanon Valley posted six runs in the sixth for a 9-7 advantage. Germann's single to left center scored the first three runs, while another run crossed home plate off an error. A hit by pitch sent one runner home and a wild pitch tallied another. A sacrifice fly from Mills ending the scoring for the Dutchmen.

The Knights fought back in the bottom of the inning with one run scoring off a sacrifice fly. A strikeout and line out ended the inning and secured the 9-8 win for LVC.

Dustin Deibert started on the mound and pitched four innings. Caleb Fick tossed two and one-third innings for the win, while Moro secured his second save of the season after retiring both batters he faced in the ninth.
