ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley College baseball posted a 6-2 win over Arcadia Thursday afternoon in the opening game of a three-game series. Jordan Witmer tallied a team-high two RBI and Ryan Schwartz registered two runs for the Dutchmen.

Recording three runs in the first inning, the Dutchmen jumped out to an early lead. Schwartz drew a walk, stole second, and scored on a two-out single to right by Jacob Rhody. Dustin Deibert continued with a walk and both runners scored on a single to deep right center from Witmer.

Arcadia came within one run in the third inning. A leadoff walk and player hit by a pitch but runners on base for the Knights. Both went on to score after a single and sacrifice fly.

Lebanon Valley added two runs in the third inning for a 5-2 lead. Schwartz walked and Aaron Mills reached first after being hit by a pitch. A passed ball advanced both runners and Schwartz crossed home plate on a wild pitch. Mills went on to score off a fielding error by third base.

The Knights drew a walk to lead off the fifth. A single by Jerry Smith put two runners on and both advanced on a double steal. Another walk to Kyle Jackson loaded the bases and forced Jake Becker from the game. Caleb Fick took over and forced a double play at the plate to prevent the runner on third from scoring, while a groundout to second ended the inning and stranded two runners in the base paths.

A run in the seventh inning stretched LVC's lead to four runs. Derek Brousseau started with a double to left center, advanced to third on a groundout, and scored off a single by Mills. Tough defense by the Dutchmen held the Knights for the remainder, securing the team's fourth-straight win.

Becker started and pitched four innings for Lebanon Vallley. He allowed two runs on three hits and struck out four. Fick secured the win after giving up just two hits and retiring two batters.

Wrapping up the three game series, Lebanon Valley travels to Arcadia Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
