ANNVILLE, Pa.
– A five run second inning sent Albright to an 8-1 win over Lebanon Valley baseball Friday afternoon. Colt Zarilla tallied the only run for LVC with a solo homer to left field, his first of the season.

Both teams tallied 10 hits in the contest. The Dutchmen were led by two hits each from Jacob Rhody, Dustin Deibert, and Derek Brousseau.

The game was LVC's fourth-annual Cystic Fibrosis Day. The first pitch was thrown out by CF child Angela Davidheiser and all proceeds were donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

After a three-up, three-down inning for both teams in the first, Albright broke through in the second inning. Beginning with a walk and single, the Dutchmen gained the inning's first out on a fielder's choice. Shawn Walbert went on to score the inning's first run off a single to left. With two outs, a hit by pitch loaded the bases and leadoff batter Nate Peiffer followed with a home run to left to score all four runs.

Lebanon Valley responded in the bottom of the second with four base runners, but a fielder's choice and pick off prevented any runs from scoring.

The Lions added a run in the sixth and eighth, with runners scoring on bases loaded double plays.

Zarilla's home run in the eighth with two outs broke up Albright's shutout. Rhody followed with a single and advanced off a hit to right field by Deibert, but a pop fly ended the inning.

Albright stayed tough in the ninth, forcing out an LVC runner off a fielder's choice and stranding another with a fly ball to left.

Starter Jake Becker pitched five innings, surrendering six runs and striking out five batters. Mike Specht tossed two and two-thirds, while Peter Moro finished the game for the Dutchmen.

Lebanon Valley finishes the three-game series with Albright Saturday. The doubleheader is set to begin at 12 p.m.
