Lebanon Valley 6, Dickinson 5
CARLISLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley baseball fought off a rally from Dickinson to win 6-5 Tuesday afternoon.
Aaron Mills led the Dutchmen at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI, while
Jordan Witmer and
Jordan Higgins both notched two RBI in the victory.
The Dutchmen struck first in the second inning, scoring one run. Witmer started with a single, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and scored off a single by Higgins.
Adding another run in the third, LVC took a 2-0 lead.
Derek Brousseau led things off with a single and advanced after a sacrifice bunt from
Ryan Schwartz. A single up the middle from Mills scored Brousseau.
Dickinson reached the scoreboard in the bottom of the third, recording two runs to tie the game. The Red Devils then had one run score in the fourth inning for a 3-2 advantage.
A three run sixth inning put the Dutchmen back in control. Mills drew a walk and reached scoring position after a double by
Jacob Rhody. An error put
Dustin Deibert on base and scored Mills while advancing Rhody. A groundout from Witmer scored Rhody and another error sent Deibert across home plate.
The teams traded runs in the eighth inning, with Lebanon Valley's coming off a sacrifice fly to center field from Witmer.
Dickinson started a rally in the ninth but fell short by one run.
Jake Becker picked up his second win after pitching eight innings. He allowed four runs on nine hits and struck out a season-high 10 batters. Becker entered the game with 92 career strikeouts and surpassed the 100 strikeout plateau against the Red Devils.
Ian Younker came in to pitch one-third of the ninth inning and
Caleb Fick finished things out for his first save of the season.
The Dutchmen travel to Ursinus Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. game.
