WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – A complete effort from Lebanon Valley baseball sent the team to an 8-0 win over King's Tuesday afternoon. Of the 12 hits by the Dutchmen, four players tallied two hits each against the Monarchs.

Ryan Schwartz and Jacob Rhody posted two RBI each to lead LVC to its first shutout of the season.

Starting off in the first inning, Lebanon Valley (6-3) took an early 2-0 lead. Colt Zarilla singled down the left field line, advanced to second on a balk, and scored off a single to left center by Rhody. After stealing second, Rhody rounded the bases off a single to left by Dustin Deibert.

Adding four runs in the fourth, the Dutchmen took a six run advantage. Jordan Witmer opened with single and moved to second when Derek Brousseau walked. A single down the left field line by Jordan Higgins loaded the bases, and a double from Schwartz scored Witmer and Brousseau. An error sent Zarilla to first, while scoring Higgins and Schwartz.

Deibert added another run in the fifth inning after opening with a single to second base and scoring off an error by right field.

Sealing the victory, Rhody notched his first home run of the season in the ninth inning to put LVC up 8-0.

King's tallied 11 hits in the game, including three from Rob Lemoncelli, but failed to cross home plate.

Shane Specht started the game for LVC and pitched one and one-third innings. Corey Cinicola picked up his first collegiate win after tossing the next four and two-thirds innings. He allowed five hits and struck out two. Peter Moro, Ian Younker, and Deibert finished the game, pitching an inning each.

The Dutchmen open the season at home on Wednesday when they host DeSales at 3 p.m.
