Baseball Drops 6-4 Decision To PSU-Behrend

Baseball
Penn State-Behrend 6, Lebanon Valley 4

Box Score

FORT PIERCE, Fla. – A four-run eighth inning sent Penn State-Behrend to a 6-4 win over Lebanon Valley baseball Thursday evening. Colt Zarilla led the Dutchmen at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a run scored.

Ryan Schwartz and Aaron Mills both notched two hits and an RBI in the loss.

Penn State took an early 1-0 lead in the first and stayed ahead until a fielder's choice from Jacob Rhody sent Zarilla home in the third to tie the game at one. The Dutchmen took a 2-1 advantage in the seventh inning after a single from Mills scored David Hallinan.

In the eighth inning, Penn State regained the lead, scoring four runs. LVC responded in the bottom of the inning, but only scored one run while stranding three on base.

The Nittany Lions added a run in the ninth for the 6-3 lead and played tough defensively in the bottom of the inning to hold the Dutchmen to one run and leave two runners on the base paths.

Nate Blough started on the mound for LVC and pitched seven and one-third innings. He allowed five runs on six hits and struck out five. Jake Backer pitched the remainder and fanned one batter.

Lebanon Valley wraps up spring break play on Friday with an 8:45 a.m. game against Misericordia.
