FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Lebanon Valley baseball wrapped up its annual spring break trip with a 9-4 loss to Misericordia.
Ryan Schwartz went 2-for-3 at the plate and
Jacob Rhody batted in two runs to pace the Dutchmen.
Misericordia started with two runs in the first inning for the early lead. Schwartz opened the bottom on the inning with a single and was sent home when
Dustin Deibert drew a bases loaded walk to come within one run.
The Cougars pulled away in the second inning, scoring four runs for the 6-1 lead, and added another run in the fourth. Lebanon Valley responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, including a two RBI single from
Jacob Rhody.
Tacking on a run in the fifth and sixth innings, Misericordia held LVC without a base runner in the final four innings for the 9-4 win.
Caleb Fick drew the start and suffered the loss after seven runs scored, two of which were earned.
Peter Moro pitched two innings for the Dutchmen in relief,
Corey Cinicola threw two innings, and
Daniel Callahan finished in the ninth inning.
Lebanon Valley travels to King's for a 3:30 p.m. game on Tuesday before opening the season at home on Wednesday against DeSales.
