Baseball Tops Susquehanna, 13-8

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley baseball posted a 13-8 victory over Susquehanna at Bollinger Field Thursday afternoon. Sophomore Colt Zarilla was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with three runs scored and a team-high four runs batted in.

Four Dutchmen posted multi-RBI games, including Zarilla and senior Grant Wiest, who tallied three runs batted in.

Junior Jake Becker started on the mound for LVC, pitching six and a third innings for his fourth victory of the season. He gave up five runs on eight hits and struck out five. Classmate Peter Moro pitched two-thirds of an inning, while sophomore Dylan Holland was on the mound for the final two innings.

The two teams traded runs in the first, with a single up the middle from Wiest scoring the run for Lebanon Valley.

LVC added four runs in the third to take a 5-1 lead. A double by Zarilla scored one run and a triple to center from sophomore Jacob Rhody scored two more. Classmate Dustin Deibert added a run late in the inning with a single up the middle. The Dutchmen added two more the following inning, with Zarilla and Wiest batting in the runs.

Susquehanna posted a run in the fifth, but Lebanon Valley increased its lead to eight in the sixth inning. A single from sophomore Aaron Mills sent one run across the plate and Zarilla scored two more with a home run to left field, his team-leading third of the season.

Lebanon Valley added three more runs in the seventh to take a 13-2 advantage. Wiest and Deibert scored a run each and Mills crossed home off an error. Susquehanna posted four runs in the seventh and two in the ninth, but fell short as LVC claimed the win.

LVC hosts Widener Friday afternoon for a single game at 3:30 p.m.
