Franklin & Marshall struck early, scoring two runs on three hits in the second inning. With one out, Jason Anderson hit a double down the left field line and scored off a single to right by Connor Devlin. A double through the right side from Andrew Conlan sent Devlin home for the second run.

Heisey led off in the fifth with a double to the left field wall, and scored to cut F&M's lead to one run after a single up the middle by Greene. A steal sent Greene to second and sophomore Ryan Schwartz reached first after an error by the first basemen. With runners on first and third with no outs, sophomore Aaron Mills reached first on a fielder's choice, sent Greene home, and forced Schwartz out at second. The Diplomats pitcher Bobby Hayes forced a flyout and caught Mills stealing to end the inning with a tie score.

The Diplomats broke the tie the following inning, scoring two runs. One run scored off an error and the other crossed home plate off a single to right by Devlin.

Lebanon Valley stormed back in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring three runs. Heisey then hit a single to left, advanced to second on the throw and scored Deibert. Greene followed with a single to left center, scoring two runs to take the 5-4 lead.

The Dutchmen added to their lead in the seventh, scoring three runs. Mills drew a walk to start the inning and advanced to second off a single to shallow left field by sophomore Colt Zarilla. A triple from senior Grant Wiest scored both runners to take a four run lead.
