ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley baseball completed the three game sweep of Arcadia Saturday afternoon with two wins. LVC took the first game of the doubleheader by a 7-2 score and posted a 12-0 shutout in the second game.
Senior
Grant Wiest and sophomore
Jacob Rhody both went 3-for-4 at the plate in the first game, while
Ryan Schwartz was 2-for-2 with two runs scored in the nightcap.
The Dutchmen (17-7, 7-2 CC) posted two home runs on the afternoon with sophomore
Aaron Mills hitting a solo homer and Wiest notching a three-run shot in the second game.
GAME ONE
Lebanon Valley scored runs in the first three innings to take a 5-0 lead. In the first, Schwartz drew a walk to start things off. He stole second and scored off a single to right field by Mills. A double to right field from Rhody sent the second runner home.
LVC added a run in the second inning with freshman
Kevin Greene scoring after a single to center from Mills. With the bases loaded in the third, Greene hit a single to left field to bat in a run. The Dutchmen scored two runs on three hits in the sixth to take a seven run advantage. A single to right field from freshman
Andrew Cunningham scored two runners.
Arcadia broke up LVC's shutout bid in the seventh, scoring two runs on three hits before a fly out ended the game.
Junior
Nate Blough pitched the complete game, allowing two runs on six hits. He struck out five batters for his fifth win of the season.
GAME TWO
Arcadia led off the game with a double to right center, but LVC's starter
Shane Specht settled in and retired the next three batters to end the inning. The Dutchmen reached the scoreboard early, scoring two runs. Mills started with a solo home run to left center and sophomore
Colt Zarilla scored off a single by Rhody.
LVC added a run in the third with Zarilla scoring on a ground out, and the Dutchmen posted six runs in the fourth inning to take a 9-0 lead. Sophomore
Jordan Witmer started with a single and classmate
Dylan Holland reached first after being hit by a pitch. A sacrifice bunt by freshman
Andrew Germann advanced both runners and a single from Schwartz sent Zarilla home. Back-to-back walks loaded the bases and a single from Weist scored two runs. An error scored one run, while a single from Witmer sent two runners home.
In the fifth, Wiest hit a three-run homer to right field, his first of the season to push LVC's lead to 12 runs.
Specht pitched all seven innings to improve to 3-0 on the season. He allowed just five hits and struck out four.
Lebanon Valley hosts Franklin & Marshall Sunday afternoon for a single game beginning at 1 p.m.
