FT. PIERCE, Fla. - Lebanon Valley split its games Thursday, losing 16-9 to Marywood in the day's opener before pulling out an 8-6 comeback win under the lights against Neumann.
The Dutchmen (2-5) were outslugged in their rematch with Marywood after coming back to beat the Pacers a day earlier in the ninth inning; against Neumann, LVC blew a lead in the seventh but retook it in the next inning.
Joe Soupik led LVC at the plate, going a combined 4-for-7 with three doubles and a two-run home run for the day.
In the opener, Marywood banged out seven runs in the second inning and fifth more in the fifth en route to the 16-9 victory. The Pacers managed all their runs on just 12 hits, led by Matt Newcomb's 3-for-6 day that saw him a home run short of the cycle.
For LVC, Soupik was 2-for-3 with two doubles.
Ian Younker took the loss, and Korey Evans got the win in five innings of work for the Pacers.
In the nightcap,
Nate Blough threw six strong innings and left the game with the lead, but ended up with a no decision after Neumann went ahead in the seventh.
The Dutchmen came back in the eighth as
Colt Zarilla drilled a two-run single to retake the lead.
Dustin Deibert got the win in relief; Soupik was 2-for-4 with a double and a homer and Blough helped himself at the plate with a 3-for-4 effort.
LVC will wrap up its Florida trip Friday against Martin Luther College.
