FT. PIERCE, Fla. - Lebanon Valley dropped both ends of a doubleheader Monday, falling 11-6 and 10-1 to Kenyon College.
The Dutchmen (0-4) failed to hold an early lead in game one and fell behind 10-0 in the second game.
GAME ONE
After Kenyon took a quick 2-1 lead to start the game, LVC responded by manufacturing four runs in the bottom of the second to go on top.
Kenyon, however, took control with Zach Ciccone's two-run single in the fourth as part of a three-run frame, and LVC never got the lead back as Kenyon put six more runs across in the final three innings.
Shane Specht went five innings, allowing six runs and walking 11 to take the loss;
Pete Moro and
Stefan Caporaletti each threw an inning of relief.
Tom Boucher worked five and two-thirds to get the win, allowing six runs. Nate Fedor threw the balance of perfect relief.
GAME TWO
The Dutchmen couldn't get their bats going in the nightcap as they were shut down by starter Geoff Bollier, who threw a three-hit shutout gem through six.
In the meantime, the Lords hit LVC hurler
Jake Becker for 10 runs on 11 hits, including a three-run third and four-run fourth to break the game open.
LVC got a consolation run in the seventh on
Bert Malloy's RBI double to score
Brent Ruminski, but closer Ben Browning held on to finish the game. Becker took the loss, with
Dustin Deibert throwing an inning of relief. Bollier earned the win, his first.
LVC will be off Tuesday before taking on Marywood Wednesday at 11 a.m.
