BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freshman Travis Steedle continued his red-hot play as of late, scoring the Flying Dutchmen's first two goals and lifting Lebanon Valley to a 3-0 Commonwealth Conference win over host Moravian College Thursday afternoon.
Steedle, the reigning Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week, has scored all of his team-leading five goals over the Dutchmen's last three games, which have all been victories. He has scored two goals in each of the team's last two matches.
Steedle scored his first goal in the 22nd minute, giving Lebanon Valley (6-9, 2-4 CC) a 1-0 halftime lead. Freshman Joe Kopchick set up the score by stealing the ball from a defender and dishing it to Steedle. Then just 1:09 into the second period, Steedle punched in an unassisted tally. Junior Zack Barkus provided the finishing touches when he scored his second goal in as many games, converting a feed from sophomore Adam Myers in the 75th minute.
Sophomore goalie Tim Mehl backstopped his third straight victory, making one save over the opening 79 minutes. Classmate Andrew Raudensky played the rest of the way but was not challenged with a shot on goal.
Chris Nederostek played all but 6:50 in goal for Moravian (4-11-1, 2-4 CC), making three saves.
Lebanon Valley returns to action on Saturday, when it visits Delaware Valley College at 1 p.m. in a non-conference affair.
