ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College men's soccer team received contributions from several players during its big 4-1 victory over Elizabethtown College, as five student-athletes recorded at least one point during the program's third consecutive win on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Herbert Field.
Gavin Rapp netted two goals, while
Charlie Kramer scored the game-winner and
Nathan Kimball added a tally.
The Dutchmen (6-2-1) and Blue Jays (5-3-2, 1-0-0 Landmark) went back and forth early in the first half, and LVC outshot the opposition 7-2 during the first 23:07 of the contest. During this stretch,
Logan Hicks and
Tyler Wescott each put a shot on goal for Lebanon Valley that was saved. The Flying Dutchmen then opened the scoring at the 26:22 mark, taking a 1-0 lead. The program struck first on a goal by Rapp, courtesy of an assist by

Lebanon Valley kept working to generate offensive opportunities as the opening stanza progressed, as Burton put a shot on target that was saved at the 28:42 mark. Elizabethtown countered with a shot attempt at the 29:57 mark, but LVC's defense responded with a block. The Dutchmen proceeded to outshoot the Blue Jays 4-0 during the rest of the first half, including a shot on goal by Rapp that was saved. Lebanon Valley took its one-goal advantage into halftime.
The Flying Dutchmen resumed the scoring just 3:30 into the second half, taking a 2-0 lead. The program went up by two when Kimball sent a corner kick into the goal box that was deflected by Hicks, which led to Kramer's shot into the upper-left side of the net for a goal. The programs followed this by competing defensively for over 22 minutes, as each program tallied three shots over this span. During this stretch, goalkeeper
Isaac Yerger delivered saves for LVC at the 52:36 and 70:48 marks.
Lebanon Valley found the net again at the 75:28 mark, going ahead 3-0. A ball was deflected by a Blue Jays defender in the penalty box, which led to Rapp sending a header shot from the back of the goal box into the lower-right corner of the net for a goal. The Dutchmen tacked on an insurance point 81:15 into the game, extending their lead to 4-0. Burton sent a free kick from behind the right corner of the penalty box into the penalty box, and Kimball took a header shot that ended up in the lower-right corner of the net for a goal. Elizabethtown later got on the board with just 43 seconds left, narrowing the score to 4-1 on a goal by Evan Berlinski. This would stand as the final score, as LVC preserved its lead through the end of play to secure the victory.
