YORK, Pa. – Gavin Rapp netted two goals for the Lebanon Valley College men's soccer team, as the program dropped a hard-fought 3-2 contest to York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Graham Field.
The Spartans (5-1-1) sent a pair of shots wide of the net within the first nine minutes of the game, before taking a 1-0 lead on a goal by Gavin Huey at the 10:34 mark. The Dutchmen countered with some offensive opportunities, as
Nathan Kimball recorded a shot that went wide 14:43 into the first half, and
Eli Yerger put a shot on goal that was saved at the 16:04 mark. York then sent a try toward the net at the 20:55 mark, and LVC answered with a save by goalkeeper

Will Burton then took a shot for the Flying Dutchmen at the 23:28 mark, which was saved.
Isaac Yerger later came through with another key save for Lebanon Valley at the 24:36 mark.
The Dutchmen got on the board 25:42 into the first half, tying the contest at 1-1. The program evened the score when Rapp took a header shot from the right corner of the goal box and sent the ball into the net for a goal. Lebanon Valley kept working to generate offensive opportunities as the first stanza progressed, as
Michael Enyeama put a shot on target that was saved at the 26:59 mark. The Spartans later attempted a pair of shots within eight seconds in the 33rd minute, but LVC's defense delivered a pair of blocks.
Isaac Yerger also made another save for the Flying Dutchmen on a shot by York at the 33:44 mark. The programs went back and forth during the remaining minutes of the first, prompting the game to enter halftime in a 1-1 tie.
Lebanon Valley kept battling on the defensive end when the second half got underway, blocking shot attempts by York at the 49:37 and 59:12 marks. The Spartans then scored again at the 65:18 mark, taking a 2-1 advantage on a penalty kick goal by Aiden Hall. The Dutchmen countered with a shot on goal by Burton, which was saved at the 70:29 mark. York later logged a shot on target at the 73:57 mark, but goalkeeper
Ryan Simonette posted a save for LVC.
The Flying Dutchmen found the net again 79:12 into the contest, tying things up at 2-2. Burton delivered a cross from the right side of the penalty box to Rapp just behind the goal box, who kicked the ball into the upper-left corner of the net for a clutch, game-tying goal. The Spartans responded with another goal by Huey off a corner kick at the 84:50 mark, taking a 3-2 lead. Ultimately, this would stand as the final score.
