Chloe Moser '28, a standout student-athlete for Lebanon Valley College's women's lacrosse and women's soccer teams, shadowed doctors in Italy for two weeks this past summer through the Atlantis Pre-Health Program. 

A Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major, Moser explored her potential future career and observed doctors specializing in orthopedics, pediatrics, neurology, and dermatology.

"It was truly an amazing opportunity to shadow doctors in Italy," Moser said. "Not only was I completely immersed in a new culture, but I also got to learn about Italy's universal healthcare system. I spent some days in the clinic observing the day-to-day operations of the hospital; however, my favorite days were spent in the operating room. This was my first time being that close to live surgery, and it was fascinating."

Moser said she enjoyed speaking with the resident doctors and surgeons about medical school, which gave her insight into what the next few years of her life may look like. In addition to this summer experience, she has also participated in biochemistry research for two years with Dr. Walter Patton, an Associate Professor of Chemistry at LVC. Through this project, Moser has studied the structure and function of prolamin proteins and presented a poster on this work at the College's annual Inquiry Symposium last spring. She said that these experiences have prepared her for her future goal of attending medical school. 

"My experience through Atlantis confirmed that medicine is the path for me, and I cannot see myself pursuing any other profession," Moser said. "My work in the lab has also prepared me by exposing me to different laboratory techniques and giving me a strong foundation for future research I will do throughout medical school and my career as a physician. Beyond the experiences themselves, I am also grateful for the people I have met and the connections I have made along the way."

Moser, one of the College's prestigious John Bowman Allwein Scholars, has been recognized with multiple honors, including the Beta Beta Beta Freshman Achievement Award in Biology, the Freshman Achievement Award in Chemistry, and multiple athletic honor rolls. She has also been listed on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team twice and named to the Academic All-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Team for women's lacrosse in 2026.

Along with her academic achievements, Moser has excelled on the field as a multi-sport athlete. The defender is a two-time Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Metro Region Second Team selection and a two-time All-MAC Freedom First Team honoree. In 2025, Moser was named the MAC Freedom Rookie of the Year after setting a single-season program record of 133 draw controls. She holds single-game program records for draw controls (17) and ground balls (11) as well. Additionally, Moser has played an integral role in the defensive success of LVC's women's soccer team since her debut in 2024. 

"Balancing my academics with my responsibilities as a two-sport athlete is not always easy," Moser said. "It comes with a lot of sacrifice, but I would not want my life any other way. Maintaining good grades is very important for my medical school goals, and my coaches understand this and have been very supportive."

Somehow Moser also finds time to serve as a resident assistant (RA) at the College, which has been one of her most rewarding campus experiences. She has enjoyed helping first-year students find their place on campus.

"Being an RA has helped me become an even better teammate," Moser said. "Not only do I get to interact with first-year students in the dorm, but I also feel like I have more resources to bring to my team. Being an RA has allowed me to get to know my teammates on another level and build stronger trust and friendships with them."

Moser also started the International Medical Relief (IMR) Club at LVC after being inspired by a medical mission trip to Peru with IMR last summer. The purpose of the club is to spread awareness about global health disparities and collect donations to send to the nonprofit organization's headquarters.

Moser also conveyed that she is grateful she decided to go to Lebanon Valley College because of the opportunities to pursue her passions in the classroom and on the field. 

"I chose to attend LVC because it allows me to be involved in so many different areas while still maintaining a strong focus on my future," Moser said. "Here, my academics come first, but they do not take away from my ability to be a dual-sport athlete, RA, club president, student research assistant, and, most importantly, a good person. I have felt nothing but support and encouragement that I can do it all here, and that there will always be people to help me along the way."
