ANNVILLE, Pa. – Gabrielle Welter and
Graison Michajluk broke program records while
Sam Rothstein broke a facility record to lead the Lebanon Valley indoor track and field teams on Friday at the Dutchmen Invitational inside the Arnold Sports Center.
There was no team scoring at the meet that included the Dutchmen, Lancaster Bible College, and Carroll Community College.
Track Events
Welter broke a 31-year-old record in the 55-meter dash, running 7.39 seconds in the preliminaries and 7.40 seconds in the final. The first-year also qualified for the 60-meter dash at the AARTFC Championships. Her time lowered the previous record of 7.44 seconds run by LVC Athletics Hall of Famer Jennifer Nauss Cornish in 1995.
Ava Matter ran a time of 7.56 seconds in the prelims and 7.66 seconds in the final to finish second.
Anna Sawicki qualified for the MAC Championships in the 60 meters with a career-best time of 7.69 seconds in the prelims.
Chloe Grady also qualified for the MAC Championships with a career-best time of 7.73 seconds in the prelims.
Rothstein broke an 11-year facility record in the mile, running a MAC Championship qualifying time of 4:29.96. The senior bested the previous record of 4:30.28 run by Michael Harnish in 2015.
Elijah McKell wasn't too far behind him with a qualifying time of 4:33.77.
Leo Tirado was one of three new men's qualifiers for the 60 meters at the MAC Championships with a career-best 55-meter time of 6.62 seconds in the final after running 6.63 seconds in the prelims. His time is tied for eighth in the program record books.
Donovan Goundie ran a MAC qualifying time of 6.69 seconds in the final after a time of 6.71 seconds in the prelims.
Braden Smith was the third new qualifier with a time of 6.76 seconds in the preliminaries.
Matter ran 43.56 seconds in the 300 meters, which is second in program history. Welter had a time of 44.45 seconds, which ranks fourth.
Lila Shore led a quartet of women that qualified for the MAC Championships in the mile with a time of 5:30.94.
Sierra Kapcsos was right on her heels in 5:31.84.
Kaylee Senglar ran a career-best 5:39.73, and
Abigail Hunt crossed the line in 5:41.87. Hunt also qualified in the 3000 meters, running a time of 11:02.83.
Charlee Kurtz was right behind her with a MAC qualifying time of 11:02.99.
Dylan Lenhart was a MAC qualifier in the men's 3000 meters with a time of 9:10.57.
Field Events
Graison Michajluk broke a nine-year program record in the heptathlon with a MAC and AARTFC qualifying 4,141 points. He broke the previous program record of 4,131 that Brandon McMinn accumulated in 2017. The junior had career-best marks in three of the seven events, recording a career-best time of 6.92 seconds in the 55 meters, a career-best jump of 6.10 meters (20'0.25") in the long jump, and a career-best height of 3.44 meters (11'3.5") in the pole vault.
Ethan Rush also qualified for the MAC Championships with a career-best point total of 3,427 points. He had a career-best mark in five events. He ran 7.19 seconds in the 55 meters, jumped 5.38 meters (17'8") in the long jump, cleared 1.63 meters (5'4.25") in the high jump, ran 8.72 seconds in the 55 hurdles, and cleared 3.04 meters (9'11.75") in the pole vault. His point total is seventh in the program record books.
Sawicki qualified for the MAC Championships in the high jump with a height of 1.55 meters (5'1").
Evan Donough was a MAC qualifier in the men's event with a height of 1.83 meters (6'0"). Emma Evan had a MAC qualifying height of 2.59 meters (8'6") in the pole vault. The men had two MAC qualifiers in the event as
Grant Smith cleared 3.96 meters (12'11.75") and
Dylan Duncan finished at 3.84 meters (12'7.25").
Tola Oyinkolade recorded an AARTFC Championships qualifying mark of 5.31 meters (17'5.25") in the long jump on her second of four attempts. Her career-best mark is sixth on the program's Top 10 list.
Mileyska Calderon had a MAC qualifying jump of 5.29 meters (17'4.25") on her first attempt. Oyinkolade had a career-best mark of 10.60 meters (34'9.5") in the triple jump to qualify for the MAC Championships. Her mark moves up to sixth in the program record books.
Aonghas Evanick was a new MAC qualifier in the shot put with a toss of 13.28 meters (43'7") on his second throw.

The Dutchmen will head to Lehigh University next Saturday, Jan. 17, for the Hounds Indoor Classic hosted by Moravian University at the Rauch Fieldhouse on the Goodman Campus at Lehigh. Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in Bethlehem.
