Bartholomew and Sawicki Improve on Records During Final Qualifying Week

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Coyla Bartholomew and Anna Sawicki improved their school records in the 3000-meter steeplechase and the heptathlon as the Lebanon Valley track and field teams competed at the Widener Final Qualifier on Monday in Chester and the AARTFC Championships in Collegeville on Wednesday and Thursday this week during the final week of national qualifying.
 
Bartholomew ran a career-best time of 10:55.02 in the 3000 steeplechase on Monday at Widener University in what is most likely her last collegiate race. The senior finished fifth out of 15 runners with the current 28th-best time in Division III this season. She lowered her previous school record time of 10:58.16, which she ran at last year's Widener Final Qualifier. Autumn Garges ran 4:41.81 in the 1500 meters while Lila Shore ran a career-best time of 4:48.17. Shore's time is ninth in the program record books.
 
Wyatt Leitzel ran a career-best time of 9:13.40 in the men's 3000 steeplechase to finish fifth overall at Widener. His time is second in the program record books, just two seconds off the program record, and 30th in the nation this season. Sam Rothstein ran a career-best time of 9:52.33. His time is ninth in the program record books. Elijah McKell ran a time of 1:54.68 in the senior's final 800-meter race of his career. Lukas Walko ran a career-best time of 3:58.84 in the 1500 meters. His time is sixth in the program record books.
 
Sawicki won the heptathlon at the AARTFC Championships with a school record total of 4740 points to move up the national rankings with the hopes of being announced as a National Qualifier in the event on Friday. Her point total is currently 17th in the nation. The sophomore had two career-best marks over the course of the two days as she jumped a career-best 5.29 meters (17'4.25") in the long jump, and threw the shot put a career-best 12.04 meters (39'6"). The sophomore improved on her previous record of 4636 points that she recorded at the MAC Championships. Her long jump mark is seventh in the program record books, while her shot put throw is third.
 
Colin Winters finished fourth in the men's 100 meters, running 10.80 seconds in the final after he qualified with a time of 10.75 seconds in the preliminaries. Leo Tirado was 10th at 10.85 seconds while Caleb Auzenne ran 10.87 seconds to finish 14th. Gabby Welter wrapped up her rookie season with a time of 12.67 seconds in the women's 100 to finish 29th. Ava Matter finished ninth in the 200 meters with a career-best time of 25.25 seconds. She has the second-fastest time in program history. Mileyska Calderon also ran a career-best time at 25.55 seconds to finish 22nd. The junior is third in the record books behind Matter. Donovan Goundie finished 21st in the 400 meters with a time of 49.56 seconds in his final collegiate meet.
 
Garges finished her collegiate career with a pair of fast times in the 800 meters and the 1500. She finished sixth in the 1500 with a career-best time of 4:39.15, which is fifth in the program record books. She also ran 2:25.03 in the 800 to finish 41st. Mikayla Mitchell finished 20th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.57 seconds. Abbie Reed was 25th at 15.77 seconds. Joshua Leidich ran 15.50 seconds in the 110-hurdles to finish 28th. The men's 4x100 meter relay team of Goundie, Tirado, Auzenne, and Winters finished 12th with a time of 42.22 seconds. The women's 4x100 relay team of Welter, Matter, Caitlyn Kovatch, and Calderon ran a time of 49.12 seconds to finish 17th.
 
Graison Michhajluk finished 20th in the high jump with a height of 1.82 meters (5'11.5"). Calderon finished 11th in the long jump with a mark of 5.39 meters (17'8.25") on her third jump. Tola Oyinkolade finished 23rd at 4.99 meters (16'4.5") on her third attempt. Oyinkolade also finished 16th in the triple jump with a mark of 11.12 meters (36'5.75") on her second try.
 
Joie Connolly finished sixth in the javelin with a toss of 35.75 meters (117'3") on her first throw. Aonghas Evanick closed out his career with a pair of strong throws. The graduate student finished 10th in the discus with a toss of 44.10 meters (144'8") on his second attempt and had a career-best mark of 49.79 meters (163'4") in the hammer to finish 16th. His hammer throw is third in program history.
 
The Dutchmen will await Friday's NCAA announcement of official qualifiers for the National Championships. Michael De Falcis is a lock to qualify in the javelin as he is currently sixth, and Sawicki is in a qualifying spot for the heptathlon, depending on the results of other final qualifiers.
