READING, Pa. – Rory Lieberman and
Anna Sawicki broke school records as the Lebanon Valley indoor track and field teams had a strong weekend with student-athletes competing at three different meets. The majority of the team competed at Alvernia University's PLEX Shootout on Saturday while Lieberman,
Joe Chukoskie, and
Coyla Bartholomew competed at the Penn State National Open, and Sawicki and
Colin Winters competed at Bucknell's Bison Challenge.
Lieberman won the 5,000 meters on Friday evening at Penn State with an impressive race against mainly Division I competition. The junior ran a program-record time of 14:43.09 which is in the top 25 of Division III this season. He beat the previous record of 14:47.79 that was run by Chukoskie last season. Chukoskie also ran the 5K on Friday and finished fifth with a time of 14:52.17. His time is in the top 40 of the nation. Bartholomew finished 11th in the women's race, running 18:14.78. All three Dutchmen qualified for the MAC Championships and AARTFC Championships with their times.
Sawicki broke her own record in the pentathlon as she won the event with 3,333 points at Bucknell. She beat mostly Division I and Division II competitors with a point total that is currently sixth in Division III this year. The sophomore finished first in three of the five events and had a career-best time of 9.47 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. She beat her previous school record by two points and qualified for the MAC Championships in the event. On Saturday, Winters finished fourth in the 60 meters at Bucknell with a season-best time of 7.00 seconds in the final. He qualified with a time of 7.04 seconds in the prelims. Sawicki and Winters both qualified for the AARTFC Championships in their events.
LVC also had a strong day at Alvernia with nine MAC Championship qualifiers and six AARTFC Championships qualifiers.
Mileyska Calderon qualified for both Championship meets in the 60 meters with a career-best time of 8.04 seconds to finish third in the final. She ran 8.11 seconds in the prelims. Her time is seventh in program history.
Joshua Leidich finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.07 seconds in the final after running 8.98 seconds in the preliminaries.
Ava Matter finished second in the 200 meters with a season-best time of 26.46 seconds.
Elijah McKell finished second in the 400 meters with a MAC qualifying time of 52.97 seconds.
Abigail Hunt was second in the 800 meters with a MAC qualifying time of 2:26.18.
Sierra Kapcsos ran a season-best time of 2:28.26 to finish fifth while
Kaylee Senglar was eighth in a season-best 2:31.25.
Autumn Garges won the mile in a MAC and AARTFC qualifying time of 5:12.98.
Lila Shore was third with a season-best time of 5:15.54. Her time is seventh in the program record books.
Andrew Namatka won the 5,000 meters to lead four Dutchmen in the top five with a time of 15:20.90.
Wyatt Leitzel was second in a career-best 15:22.46.
Lukas Walko ran 15:23.16 to finish third while
Donnie Miller was fifth in a season-best 15:54.17. Namatka, Leitzel, and Walko qualified for the MAC Championships with their times and were joined by
Dylan Miller who qualified in 16:28.52. Namatka and Leitzel also qualified for the AARTFC Championships. Namatka's time is fifth in the program record books while Leitzel is sixth and Walko's career-best time is eighth.
Caroline Borleis and
Dani Fetterolf qualified in the women's 5K as both finished in the top five with career-best times. Borleis ran a time of 19:59.21 to finish fourth, while Fetterolf was fifth in 20:03.23.
The women's distance medley team of Senglar,
Sarah Nagy, Kapcsos, and Hunt won in 13:09.03. The men's 4x400 relay team also won as
Donovan Goundie,
Luke Macchione,
Hayden Milchanowski, and McKell finished in 3:32.81. The men's and women's 4x200-meter relay teams qualified for the AARTFC Championships, and both finished fourth. The women's squad of Matter, Gabby Welter,
Mikayla Mitchell, and Nagy ran 1:51.17 while the men's team of Goundie, Tirado,
Braden Smith, and
Caleb Auzenne ran 1:33.09.
Leo Tirado finished third in the high jump with a season-best height of 1.90 meters (6'2.75"). His height is eighth in program history.
Alex Brown was third in the long jump with a season-best mark of 6.35 meters (20'10") on his second jump.
Tola Oyinkolade was fourth in the women's event with a jump of 5.23 meters (17'2") on her fourth attempt. Calderon was eighth at 5.11 meters (16'9.25") on her first jump.
Chloe Grady was fifth in the triple jump at a season-best 10.62 meters (34'10.25") on her third attempt. Oyinkolade was sixth with a jump of 10.60 meters (34'9.5") on her third attempt, while
Hailey Myers was eighth at 10.11 meters (33'2") on her fifth jump.
Luisanna Polanco was second in the pole vault with a career-best height of 3.20 meters (10'6"). She moved up to a tied for sixth in the program record books with her height.
Grant Smith was fifth in the men's event with a height of 4.05 meters (13'3.5").
Jordan Klinger had a career-best shot put throw of 14.68 meters (48'2") to finish sixth. His toss is fifth in the program record books.
