ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley baseball team had four student-athletes named to the Academic All-District® Baseball Team by College Sports Communicators (CSC) in a release by the professional organization this week.
The Academic All-District® Baseball Team recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July, 2, 2024.
The four Dutchmen honorees are
Owen Berry,
Pete Botbyl,
Jace Fetterman, and
Andrew Spaan.
Berry is a sophomore business administration major from Cogan Station, Pennsylvania. He batted .300 this season in 31 games with 27 hits including seven doubles and two home runs. Berry knocked in 19 runs and scored 19 times. On the mound, he was 0-2 with a 7.59 earned run average in 10.2 innings pitched over seven appearances. In the field, he made 58 assists and 31 putouts.
Botbyl is a junior exercise science major from Wayne, New Jersey. The outfielder played in 31 games and recorded a .223 batting average with 25 hits including two doubles, two triples, and a home run. Botbyl knocked in 10 runs and scored 23 times while recording eight stolen bases. In the field, he made 40 putouts and two assists.
Fetterman is a junior business administration major from Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The catcher played in 27 games and had a .357 average with 30 hits including six doubles, one triple, and six home runs. Fetterman knocked in 27 runs and scored 24 times. In the field, he made 168 putout and had 18 assists including throwing six runners out trying to steal. This is his second consecutive Academic All-District honor.
Spaan is a junior history and English major from Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. The pitcher had a 2-4 record in eight starts this season. He struck out 34 and had a 6.59 earned run average in 42.1 innings of work. In the field, he recorded 11 assists and one putout.
