ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley junior baseball standout
Shane Stossel was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week on Monday in a release by the conference office.
Stossel struck out 11 hitters in six innings of a combined no-hitter in a 3-0 LVC victory over Heidelberg on Monday. The junior walked just one hitter and faced 21 batters in the first no-hitter in LVC history since 1956. The 11 strikeouts were one shy of his career-high and school record he had last season. The junior had a two-RBI double in the first inning to give the Dutchmen the lead. Stossel finished the week with a 1-1 record after striking out three hitters and allowing three earned runs on five hits to sixth-ranked Baldwin Wallace on Saturday.
Stossel earns his second career conference weekly honor and his first as a pitcher. The junior was named Player of the Week last April.
Lebanon Valley will be back on the diamond this Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. first pitch against Nichols College on McGill Field.
