ANNVILLE, Pa. – Ashley Bartels earned her first-ever Middle Atlantic Conference weekly award for the Lebanon Valley women's indoor track and field team on Monday as the senior was announced as the MAC Field Athlete of the Week by the conference office.
 
Bartels broke the LVC record in the weight throw with a toss of 15.85 meters (52'0") on Saturday to finish second at the Susquehanna Tune-Up. The senior had a huge career-best throw to beat the old record of 15.57 meters (51'1"). Her mark is currently 47th in Division III, second in the MAC and Mid-Atlantic Region and eighth in the AARTFC.
 
Bartels gives the women's team a MAC athlete of the week for the second consecutive week. She becomes the first Dutchman to be named the Field Athlete of the Week since McKenna Loughney earned the honor this same week last year.
 
The Dutchmen will be in action this weekend competing at the MAC Championships on the campus of Alvernia University. Competition begins on Friday and will conclude on Saturday.
