Berkheimer Leads Women’s Indoor Track and Field at Franklin & Marshall

LANCASTER, Pa. – Darrian Berkheimer won the 300 meters in a school record time and finished sixth in the 60 meters to highlight a great meet by the Lebanon Valley women's indoor track and field team on Friday at the Mini-Dip Invitational on the campus of Franklin & Marshall College.
 
TOP PERFORMANCES AND MAC QUALIFIERS
Berkheimer was the last qualifier for the 60-meter final with a time of 8.33 seconds. She then finished sixth in the final with a time of 8.35 seconds. Berkheimer also had a strong race in the 300 meters winning in 43.13 seconds. Tori Hunyara was third in the 300 with a time of 44.39 seconds. Anna Donnelly was a MAC qualifier in the 5000 meters crossing the line in 20:27.03.
 
Emily Oriel finished third in the pole vault with a height of 3.33 meters (10'11") while Sidney Wike was fourth at 2.88 meters (9'5.25"). Ashley Bartels won the weight throw for the second week in a row with a throw of 14.63 meters (48'0") on her third attempt. Lauren Assante was fifth with a mark of 13.35 meters (43'9.75") on her first toss of the afternoon.
 
 
INTO THE RECORD BOOKS
Berkheimer ran a career best time of 8.33 seconds in the 60 meters which is ninth in the record books. She also broke the 300-meter record with a time of 43.13 seconds. The previous record was held by Allix Sanders who ran 45.28 seconds in 2010. Hunyara also broke the record held by Sanders and is currently second behind Berkheimer on the top 10 list. Assante threw a career best mark in the weight throw to move into the top 10 list at seventh.
 
UP NEXT
The Dutchmen will compete at the world-famous Armory in New York City next Friday at the NYU DIII Invitational.
