Women’s Indoor Track and Field Shines In Home Meet

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's indoor track and field team had an excellent return to competition as the team hosted the Dutchmen Invitational on Friday afternoon inside the Arnold Sports Center.
 
TOP PERFORMANCES AND MAC QUALIFIERS
Lauren Bunke had a great meet in her season debut qualifying for the MAC Championships in the 400 meters and the mile. She ran 1:05.44 in the 400 and her converted time of 1:04.98 for track size is eighth in the conference this year. She also ran the fastest mile time in the MAC with a blazing 5:32.57. Coyla Bartholomew was right behind her in 5:34.95 to also qualify for the conference championships. Bartholomew was also a two-time MAC event qualifier as she raced to a speedy 11:08.88 in the 3000 meters. Both of Bartholomew's converted times for track size are second in the MAC this season. The 4x400 relay team of Julia Wawryznski, Alyssa Peiffer, Tori Hunyara, and Darrian Berkheimer ran the third-best time in the MAC at 4:31.52.
 
Carolina Wegman qualified for the MAC Championships in the pentathlon with 1684 points. That is currently ranked fourth in the conference. Her high jump mark of 1.50 meters (4'11") is sixth in the MAC. Grace Aplin had a strong jumping day with a mark of 4.84 meters (15'10.5") in the long jump which ranks eighth in the conference and a jump of 9.73 meters (31'11.25") which in ninth in the triple jump.
 
Alyssa Betz moved up to second in the conference in the shot put with a toss of 10.74 meters (35'3") on her third of fourth attempt. Ashley Bartels qualified for MACs in the weight throw and is ranked third in the conference with a throw of 13.19 meters (43'3.25") on her fourth toss.
 
INTO THE RECORD BOOKS
Wegman moved into 10th place in the high jump with her jump of 1.50 meters. Berkheimer had the 10th-fastest 55-meter time in program history at 7.69 seconds.
 
UP NEXT
The Dutchmen will be back in action next Saturday at Lehigh's Rauch Fieldhouse to compete in the Moravian Indoor Meet.
