How It Happened
FORT PIERCE, Fla. – In Lebanon Valley's first game of a doubleheader against Monmouth (Ill.) the Dutchmen fell by a narrow 4-2 margin to bring their record to 3-2.
The Fighting Scots scored the game's first four runs, beginning with a pair of runs in the top of the first. Monmouth then recorded an RBI-single in both the sixth and seventh inning, leaving LVC in a 4-0 hole in the final inning.
In the bottom of the seventh,
Josh Herring grounded out to first base to score
Colin Albright, and
Marty Kiessling followed with an RBI-single to right field to plate
Jon Harned, bringing the Dutchmen to within two at 4-2, however LVC was unable to complete the comeback and fell 4-2.
At the Plate

Bryan Towers picked up two hits and drew a walk.
- Kiessling finished with a hit and an RBI.
On the Mound

Kyle Kingsbury pitched well, but was dealt the loss. He went six innings and allowed three earned runs while striking out seven.

How It Happened
In the nightcap, a three-run fifth inning for the Fighting Scots proved to be the difference, as LVC was edged 8-7, bringing its record to 3-3, while Monmouth improved to 4-3.
The Dutchmen jumped out to an early 4-0 advantage in the first, beginning with
Chris DeClerico's double to left field to plate
Bryan Towers.
Josh Marcelli followed it up by launching a three-run home run off the foul pole down the right field line, increasing LVC's lead to 4-0. Monmouth got two back in the bottom of the first thanks to Myers' two-RBI single, but in the top of the second, DeClerico's RBI-groundout put the Dutchmen ahead 5-2.
In the bottom of the third, the Fighting Scots platted a pair of runs to come to within one LVC at 5-4, but Albright ripped a single that scored Towers and Harned to put the Dutchmen back up by three at 7-4. LVC saw its lead evaporate in the final innings, however, as Monmouth scored three in the fifth and scored via an error in the bottom of the sixth. The Dutchmen were unable to come back in the top of the seventh, resulting in the 8-7 defeat.
At the Plate
- Towers, DeClerico, and Harned finished with two hits apiece, with DeClerico registering two RBI.
- Marcelli had three RBI and a run scored.
On the Mound

Tregg Liebel suffered the loss after tossing 4.1 innings, although he notched five K's.
Who's Next?
LVC concludes its spring-break trip tomorrow with a doubleheader against Maritime College. Game one is set for 10 a.m. The Dutchmen's 2018 home opener is slated for Tuesday, March 13.
