YORK, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's men's tennis team opened the fall portion of its 2017-18 campaign at York (Pa.) on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 24. The Flying Dutchmen (0-1) fell 8-1 to the Spartans (2-3) in their first outing of the season.
It was freshman
Luke Senft who picked up the lone victory of the day for LVC. He earned a 7-6 (0-5), 6-2 win over York's Lukas Olson in the No. 4 pairing.
The Dutchmen lineup got its first opportunity to compete using its new order, with returners
Blake Martin,
Reed Morris, and
Jordan Heavel playing the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 solo positions, respectively. Fellow returner Elliott Klecker was the team's No. 5 singles player and freshman
Samuel Miller rounded out the lineup in the No. 6 slot.
Morris and Kleckner competed as the squad's top doubles team, while Heavel and Martin comprised the No. 2 pairing, and Senft joined fellow freshman
Ben Hinkley to make up the third duo.
LVC will look to pick up its first win of the young season when the team hosts Susquehanna at the Shankroff Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 1.
