ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's men's tennis team emerged victorious in the team's final non-conference match of the spring on Sunday afternoon. The Flying Dutchmen earned a 7-2 win over Penn State Harrisburg at the Shankroff Tennis Center to finish the season 5-4 in non-conference play.
As has been a trend this spring, LVC used its depth up and down the lineup to pull away from the Lions (4-9) after holding a slim advantage following doubles play.
Nick Jones and
Blake Martin teamed up to top Penn State Harrisburg's John Parola and Ryan McCurdy 8-2 in the second doubles contest, while
Jonathan Hastings and
Jordan Heavel bested Benjamin Rusling and Austin Stehman 8-5 in the No. 3 matchup.
Brent Greco, LVC's No. 2 player, was the team's highest singles player to earn a victory after taking care of Rafael Fernandes 6-2, 6-1. Hastings had to work a little longer than usual to earn a 6-2, 3-6, 10-0 win in the third contest, as did Morris in clinching a 6-2, 6-7, 10-4 victory over Parola in the No. 4 matchup. Martin went 6-1, 6-0 over McCurdy in the five spot and Heavel took care of Alexander Rohn 6-0, 6-2 in the sixth outing.
The Dutchmen will now turn their attention back to MAC Commonwealth play when they host Lycoming at the Shankroff Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon.
