FREDERICK, Md. – Lebanon Valley's men's tennis team stayed hot by winning its fifth match in a row on Saturday afternoon. The Flying Dutchmen rolled in their away contest, defeating MAC Commonwealth foe Hood 8-1.
The Flying Dutchmen (7-4, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) made it a clean sweep in doubles play, with
Nick Jones and
Blake Martin teaming up to defeat Hood's Alex Sexton and Michael Brady 8-5 in the No. 1 contest,
Reed Morris and
Elliott Kleckner pairing up to top Jordan Hahn and Conor Riggin 8-1 in the second outing, and
Jonathan Hastings and
Jordan Heavel handled Tanner Ruths and Joe Benton 8-1 in the No. 3 matchup.
Singles play was nearly perfect for LVC, with the team's 2-6 players all emerging victorious. Hastings took care of Benton 6-4, 6-4 in the second singles contest and Morris made quick work of Hahn in the No. 3 contest, emerging with a 6-1, 6-1 win. Martin came away with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Riggin in the four spot, Heavel went 6-1, 6-3 over Ruth in the No. 5 outing, and Kleckner capped it off with a 7-5, 6-2 win in the sixth solo match.
The Dutchmen will look to continue their recent hot streak when they make up a match with Penn State Harrisburg at the Shankroff Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
