ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley got back to .500 on the season when the team opened MAC Commonwealth play by handling Alvernia 7-2 at the Shankroff Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Flying Dutchmen (4-4, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) jumped out to an early advantage when
Jonathan Hastings and
Jordan Heavel swept Alvernia's Jimmy Souder and Antonio Gaetani 8-0 in the second doubles match. The team of
Nick Jones and
Blake Martin gave LVC a second victory in doubles play by taking care of Reid Hoff and Todd Unger 8-1.
Lebanon Valley dominated singles play, taking five of the six matches.
Brent Greco bested Colin MacCloskey 6-2, 6-2 in the second solo contest, while Hastings had to work hard to beat Hoff by a 7-6, 6-7, 6-4 decision.
Reed Morris defeated Unger 6-2, 6-3 in the four spot, Martin made quick work of Souder with a 6-0, 6-1 win in the fifth matchup, and Heavel picked up a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Gaetani in the No. 6 pairing.
The Dutchmen are next in action tomorrow afternoon when they play host to King's (Pa.) at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
