ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's men's tennis team had to battle through some wet and sloppy conditions to do it, but the squad finished off the dual-match portion of its fall schedule with an 8-1 victory at Eastern on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 12.
The only victory of the day for the Eagles (0-1) came in doubles play. LVC (2-1), however, came away with a pair of wins thanks to
Luke Senft and
Jordan Heavel rolling to an 8-1 decision over Connor Mooney and Matt Cradduck in the second matchup, and
Samuel Miller and
Jonathan Yenser earning a forfeit victory in the No. 3 outing.
Because the match started late due to rain, singles action was modified to allow all the matches to finish. The Flying Dutchmen accommodated the sped-up play by sweeping Eastern's lineup. Heavel handled Ryan Hamilton 8-1 in the top pairing and Senft held off Karl Finkbeiner to earn an 8-4 win in the No. 2 match.
Elliott Kleckner defeated Mooney 8-2 in the third contest, Miller went 8-1 over Cradduck in the fourth matchup, and Yenser swept Tom Lesher 8-0 in the No. 5 outing.
Ben Hinkley earned a forfeit victory in the No. 6 slot.
The Dutchmen wrap up their fall competition when they take part in the MAC Commonwealth Individual Tournament next weekend. The tourney begins on Oct. 21 before finishing the next day.
