GLENSIDE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley clinched a playoff berth in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth postseason tournament with a 5-4 victory at Alvernia on Saturday afternoon.
The Flying Dutchmen (6-11-1, 3-3-1 MAC Commonwealth) picked up two crucial victories in doubles play when
Jonathan Hastings and
Cody Manmiller defeated Kyle Clark and Colin MacCloskey 8-2 in the second doubles match, and
Jordan Heavel and
Elliott Kleckner beat Antonio Gaetani and Reid Hoff 8-6 in the number three outing.
Hastings, Manmiller, and Heavel stayed perfect on the day when all three won their singles matches, clinching the match and a spot in the postseason for LVC.
Hastings breezed past MacCloskey 6-0, 6-1 in the second singles pairing, while Manmiller dispatched of Jacob Conapitski 6-2, 6-1. Heavel worked through a tough opening set to take a 7-5, 6-1 decision from Kyle Clark in the number five and deciding matchup.
It's on to postseason play for the Dutchmen, who travel to top-seeded Messiah for semifinal action on Wednesday afternoon.
