OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Lebanon Valley dropped a hard-fought 6-3 decision to a red-hot Stevenson squad on Tuesday afternoon.
The Mustangs (12-5, 6-0 MAC Commonwealth), winners of 10 in a rown, were challenged by LVC (5-11-1, 2-3 MAC Commonwealth), particularly in doubles play. The Flying Dutchmen emerged from doubles competition with a 2-1 advantage after their number two pairing of
Jonathan Hastings and
Cody Manmiller, and number three duo of
Elliott Kleckner and
Jordan Heavel each picked up 8-5 wins.
Despite three close individual matchups, including Hastings' three-setter in the second singles contest, only
Joel Eisenhower was able to earn a solo victory for LVC. He defeated Tony Beres 6-4, 6-0 in the number six singles outing.
The Dutchmen travel to Alvernia on Saturday afternoon for their regular-season finale with a playoff berth on the line. A win over the Crusaders would earn LVC a spot in next week's MAC Commonwealth Postseason Tournament.
