HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Lebanon Valley opened the spring portion of its 2015-16 schedule with an 8-1 setback to a talented Gordon squad in Hilton Head, S.C. on Monday morning.
Nick Jones and
Jordan Heavel nearly earned a doubles victory in their match against Peter Godwin and Joe Daugherty but instead fell 9-8 after taking their opponents to the limit.
Cody Manmiller made his season debut in doubles action, teaming with
Jonathan Hastings in the number one slot before giving Godwin a tough outing in the number three singles match.
Yale Maier picked up the Flying Dutchmen's lone win of the match, defeating Gordon's Caven Bell 7-5, 6-2 in the number six singles matchup. It was Maier's second solo victory of the season.
The Dutchmen (1-3) will be back in action on day two of the team's spring break trip when they take on Millersville on Tuesday night.
