MIDDLETOWN, Pa. –
Cody Manmiller had a particularly strong day for Lebanon Valley but it wasn't enough in the team's 7-2 loss to Penn State Harrisburg at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
Manmiller won both of matches against the Lions (5-3), teaming up with
Jonathan Hastings in the number two doubles slot to defeat Rafael Fernandes and Austin Pokopec 8-6 before handling Jim Moore 6-1, 6-3 in the matchup of the teams' number three solo players.
Unfortunately, those were the only victories for the Flying Dutchmen (2-7) on the day despite solid efforts from
Nick Jones, Hastings, and
Joel Eisenhower in singles competition. Jones fell to Fernandes 5-7, 6-4, 10-8 in the battle of the squads' top players, while Hastings managed to take Tyler Cook to an extra game in a 6-2, 7-5 defeat in the two slot. Same for Eisenhower, as he dropped a 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) decision to Marco Guerrero, Penn State Harrisburg's number five man.
The Dutchmen will be back on their home court for their next outing against Elizabethtown on Thursday afternoon, March 31 before opening MAC Commonwealth play against Messiah two days later.
