ANNVILLE, Pa. - Stevenson held off Lebanon Valley, 6-3, in the regular-season finale Saturday.
The Dutchmen and Stevenson knew they would face each other in next Tuesday's Commonwealth Conference Tournament semifinals, and Saturday's match would determine who had home-court advantage. The strength of Stevenson's singles play helped them secure the #2 seed, winning five of six after LVC led 2-1 in doubles.
LVC will head to SU Tuesday at a time to be announced. In the other semi, top-seeded Messiah hosts Alvernia; the winners meet Saturday at the higher seed for the championship.
On Senior Day, Lebanon Valley won at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles to start things off.
Jordan Shankroff and
Nick Jones gutted out a 9-8 (4) tiebreak win at 1, and
Christian Grove and
Jonathan Hastings were 8-1 victors at No. 3.
Singles went Stevenson's way, however, as only
Christian Grove managed a win for LVC at No. 5 with his 6-0, 6-2 victory.Â
