ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Lebanon Valley dug deep and battled to a 6-3 win at Elizabethtown on Thursday.
The Dutchmen (4-5) took advantage of their strength at the bottom of the order to seal their first win over E-town since the 2009 Commonwealth Conference final that the Dutchmen captured 5-4. This was the first match-up between the two teams since Elizabethtown left the CC for the Landmark Conference last summer.
Leading 2-1 after doubles, LVC quickly clinched the team win with singles victories at the lower three rungs.
Nick Jones won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 before
Cody Manmiller won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4, and
Christian Grove used a second-set tiebreak to clinch the match 6-2, 7-6 (8-6).
Jordan Shankroff put the exclamation mark on the win with his comeback 3-6, 7-5, 10-4 victory at No. 1.
LVC will open Commonwealth Conference play Monday at home against Lycoming.
